Former Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain agrees personal terms with Besiktas
More than a month after his contract with Liverpool came to an end, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is close to switching to Turkish giants Besiktas.
According to Paul Joyce of The Times via Twitter, Ox has agreed on personal terms with Besiktas and an impending medical is subject to his move to the club.
“Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has agreed terms on deal to join Besiktas and now will have a medical in coming days.”
While his Liverpool stint was marred by a series of unfortunate injuries, including the impactful setback against Roma in 2018, Oxlade-Chamberlain leaves behind cherished moments as well. Most remember his rocket of a goal against Manchester City in the 2017/18 UCL campaign.
As Oxlade-Chamberlain embarks on a new chapter with Besiktas, Liverpool fans bid farewell to a player who, despite the challenges, left an indelible mark. His transition to the Turkish club signifies an opportunity for a fresh start, away from the shadows of injuries that tested his resolve.
Much like Naby Keita, Ox’s time at Liverpool is also one of great talent, but underperforming, due to injury issues. The player’s determination in the face of adversity earned him admiration and respect from Liverpool supporters. Despite the hurdles, his commitment to the club’s cause never wavered. He always remained a fan favourite but for reasons apart from his footballing ability as well.
His appearances across the club’s social media platforms also made him likeable. However, that is surely not even close to substantial when it comes to a club as big as Liverpool wherein your performances do the talking.
As his career trajectory takes a new direction, the hope lingers that he will find stability in his new venture at Besiktas.
