Manchester United pull out of the race to sign Liverpool target Lois Openda
Liverpool fans, there’s a new name on the radar, and it’s RB Leipzig’s Lois Openda. The 23-year-old has been making waves with his performances, and reports suggest that Liverpool could be among the clubs keeping a close watch.
Openda has been in fine form this season, notching up five goals and two assists for Leipzig in 10 games across all competitions. His impressive displays have not gone unnoticed, with clubs from across Europe expressing their interest. Liverpool, with their keen eye for talent, is one of them. However, with the revelation of his release clause, Manchester United see themselves out of the race for the player. That is as per The Express.
According to Christian Falk via Caught Offside, there’s a bit of relaxed anticipation at Leipzig regarding Openda’s future. His release clause won’t become active until 2025, and it seems to be a bit higher than the previously reported £69m. (via ECHO)
For Liverpool, Openda represents an exciting prospect. The club has had a positive experience with RB Leipzig players in the past, most notably Dominik Szoboszlai. This familiarity could work in Liverpool’s favour as they consider their options.
Openda to the Reds?
There’s also a noteworthy similarity in style between Liverpool and RB Leipzig. Both clubs prioritize dynamic, attacking football, which could make Openda’s transition to Anfield smoother.
As Liverpool fans, the prospect of adding a talent like Openda to the squad is undoubtedly enticing. The club’s recruitment team has a knack for identifying players who can make a significant impact, and Openda’s emergence on the radar suggests that they’re continuing to look for opportunities to strengthen the squad.
While it’s still early days in the rumour mill, the idea of seeing Lois Openda don the famous Liverpool jersey is an intriguing one. His potential addition would add depth and quality to the squad, offering more options in attack and enhancing competition for places. Now that United are also not showing any more interest, Liverpool could surely accelerate their interest in the player.
