Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provides Cody Gakpo injury update
There’s some promising news on the injury front for Liverpool, especially concerning Cody Gakpo after news from earlier in the day revealed an extended period on the sidelines for Thiago Alcantara.
Last weekend, during the match against Tottenham Hotspur, Gakpo was forced off the pitch at half-time due to a knee injury. It was a disappointing turn of events, especially considering he had already contributed by scoring Liverpool’s equalizing goal.
After the match, Gakpo left London with his right knee securely braced. This injury setback meant he couldn’t participate in Liverpool’s Europa League clash with Union SG on Thursday, and he will also be absent from the upcoming Premier League clash against Brighton on Sunday.
However, the silver lining here is that Jurgen Klopp is optimistic about Gakpo’s recovery. The Dutchman remains expected to return to action once the club resumes their fixtures after the upcoming international break.
Klopp shared some encouraging words regarding Gakpo’s progress and here is what the manager had to say via ECHO:
“Cody has a good chance that he will be back (after the break),”
“Already out of the brace, he walks normal around here. So from all the very, very bad opportunities and possibilities injury-wise, we nearly got the best, but he is still injured.”
In a season where injuries have been a concern for Liverpool, the prospect of Gakpo’s return is welcomed news. His contributions to the team have been valuable, and his presence adds depth and firepower to the squad.
As we look ahead to the resumption of club action after the international break, Liverpool fans can hope to see Gakpo back on the pitch, continuing to make a positive impact.
