As per a report from Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona are eyeing a move for Liverpool target Jorginho. The Napoli midfielder has earned rave reviews for his performances this season as the Naples-based outfit put up a tough fight to challenge for the Serie A title.
They might not have succeeded in their efforts but one cannot deny Jorginho’s potential and talent. A defensive midfielder by trade, Jorginho can act as a solid anchor at the base of the midfield. With Emre Can’s contract set to expire this summer, his future is up in the air. We do have Jordan Henderson but his performances have been frustratingly inconsistent this season.
If we are to make a solid title challenge next term, a player like Jorginho could certainly boost our chances. In addition to scoring 2 goals and providing 4 assists, the 26-year-old has also created 44 chances in 29 Serie A appearances in the ongoing campaign.
For a defensive midfielder, these numbers are truly spectacular and he could work wonders for us at Anfield. However, Sport claims that Barcelona are harbouring an interest in the promising Italian.
In recent times, Liverpool have been a force to reckon with in the transfer market. After all, we managed to secure the signing of Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita and we had to beat a lot of other teams to do so.
It would be great if Liverpool can pull off something similar here as well but to be on the safe side, Jurgen Klopp must have a backup option in mind.
