Virgil van Dijk pays homage to Liverpool youngsters following dream Wembley outing

Virgil van Dijk had only words of appreciation for the Liverpool youngsters who showed up during the Carabao Cup final

Liverpool skipper, Virgil van Dijk was the point of difference in the Reds Carabao Cup win against Chelsea. However, Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t even have been able to put together a proper team if it wasn’t for the team’s youngsters. The German coach was missing a majority of his best players for the game with Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Mo Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold all out due to injury.

With so much quality missing from his team, Klopp showed a lot of faith in his young stars and gave them an opportunity in what was the team’s biggest game of the season so far.

It was Conor Bradley and Jayden Danns who both looked positive for Liverpool throughout the game. Harvey Elliot was also a constant threat to the Chelsea defence. Team captain, Virgil van Dijk took notice of the youngsters and had some words of appreciation for them post-game. Let’s have a look at what the captain had to say. (h/t The Mirror)

“It means so much, all the young boys on the pitch in extra time, it’s incredible I’m so proud of the team, intense game for both sides,”

Van Dijk was clearly happy with the game and said that the team created some good chances. He added that it was an amazing game to be in. He went on to say that the young boys having a part in what they’ve achieved today was incredible.

All of the youngsters on the team surely deserve a pat on the back after putting on such a show in an incredibly crucial game. Jurgen Klopp will be happy to see that the club’s future is secure.
