Liverpool are firmly in the lead for Xabi Alonso, as Bayern Munich are yet to hear from his agent
Liverpool have been linked to Spanish manager Xabi Alonso since the day that Jurgen Klopp announced that he would be leaving. The announcement came in June and since then there has been a ton of talk discussing the German’s successor at the club. A lot of names have come up but no one seems to be more worthy than Liverpool legend, Alonso.
The team also seems to be in the lead to sign the Spaniard as The Daily Briefing reports that the Reds have made contact with Alonso’s agent. It is being reported that Inaki Ibanez was quick to inform Alonso about the contact from Liverpool.
However, the same didn’t happen in the case of Bayern Munich who are still waiting on a reply. Munich will be letting go of Thomas Tuchel and Xabi Alonso’s form in the Bundesliga has played a big part in that.
Bayer Leverkusen currently stand at the top of the Bundesliga table and are 10 points clear of Bayern. Seeing how Alonso has gotten better results, the German giants are keen on bringing him in to replace Tuchel.
From the looks of it, the Spanish manager is playing hard to get. Or it can also be said that he has no interest in joining Bayern Munich at the moment. If he did the German giants would’ve known about his intentions.
