Liverpool joins Premier League rivals in £47million transfer battle to sign Palmeiras wonderkid Luis Guilherme
Liverpool is keeping a close eye on Palmeiras youth Luis Guilherme, who, according to reports, is the most interesting midfielder for a number of major European clubs.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder is making waves in Brazil, and scouts working for European clubs have been observing his growth. Guilherme has established himself in the Palmeiras squad, earning 33 first-team games in the Brazilian Serie A and Copa Libertadores.
Palmeiras are fully aware of the desire, and Guilherme signed a new contract in November that extends until 2026.
While he has yet to score for Palmeiras, his talent is evident, as he got the promotion to Brazil’s under-20 squad after scoring three goals in just four appearances for the country’s under-16s.
The left-footed playmaker has been identified as a bright No. 10. Palmeiras youth director Joao Paulo Sampaio believes the goals will arrive. He said:
“We played in a tournament in Japan and Luis scored over 40 goals. The Japanese players were scared of him. But Luis doesn’t get carried away. He knows the potential he has. He’s a very special player.”
Luis could be beneficial for Liverpool
He could be an exciting option to develop at Anfield. The youngster may find game time hard to come by, but the experience of training with the first team would help his progress. A club like Liverpool could really guide Luis into huge success.
With Mohamed Salah’s contract ending in 2025, he could be the player who takes the starting berth from the Egyptian when he leaves, with a move to Saudi Arabia on the cards.
Luis Diaz‘s father has also stated that they are looking to relocate to Spain, and the Reds will need a replacement for the Colombian. Guilherme is an exciting prospect who would add flare and youth to Liverpool’s offensive line, but they must beat off competition from Europe’s premier teams to capture his services.
