Vitezslav Jaros could follow in the footsteps of Caoimhin Kelleher after Liverpool promotion

Liverpool confirmed the departure of Adrian while promoting academy goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros to the senior squad as third-choice custodian. He will now aim to follow in the footsteps of Caoimhin Kelleher and rise through the ranks in red.

The 22-year-old played a crucial role in helping Sturm Graz complete a double last season after joining them in January on loan. He won the Austrian Cup with the Blackies and also secured the Austrian Bundesliga, ending RB Salzburg’s 10-year winning streak.

The Czechian joined his country during the Euro 2024 competition before they crashed out of it in the group stages. Jaros joined Czechia as the understudy to Jindrich Stanek who is more experienced at the international level than him.

Adrian left Liverpool this summer.

The 22-year-old’s promotion as the third-choice goalkeeper at Liverpool next season shows the faith that the club has in him. Furthermore, it is also a good display of continuous confidence that the Reds have in the youth players coming through their ranks to step up and be counted.

Other high-spending rival clubs prefer to use the transfer market instead of trusting the system that they have set up. According to the Athletic, Adrian’s departure during the summer has allowed the Reds to promote Jaros as the third choice. While he is unlikely to be handed any starting opportunities anytime soon, Jaros could get an opportunity or two in Cup games.

The 22-year-old followed in the footsteps of Kelleher who enjoyed a fantastic rise from the Liverpool academy under legendary Jurgen Klopp. Many fans will be excited about the news, having followed Jaros’s progress during his loan spell at Austria last season.

Kelleher’s future is a major talking point this summer as the Irishman confirmed his desire to pursue more first-team football. Any potential departure of Kelleher would provide Jaros with another quick promotion as the second choice to Alisson Becker.
