There has been a trend going around where Premier League clubs are looking to sign highly regarded young players with an aim to nurture them into their potential, and while Liverpool have stayed out of it, the Reds are about to get in and get in big as they rub shoulders with Manchester City for 17-year-old Serbian prodigy Andrija Maksimovic, per reputed German journalist Patrick Berger.

Liverpool target Serbian teenager Maksimovic

Liverpool join race for highly-rated Serbian talent Maksimovic.
Liverpool and Manchester City enter the race for Andrija Maksimovic.

Andrija Maksimovic is fairly gaining popularity owing to his abilities, which has got the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool fortifying interests for his signatures alongside other European heavyweights Borussia Dortmund and Juventus as all of the aforementioned clubs tack the Crvena Zvezda wonderkid.

The Reds, or any other potential suitors, will have to fork out about €15 million to land the teenager.

Andrija Maksimovic is an attacking midfielder who can also feature on the right flank, and Liverpool at the moment could use him as an understudy to Dominik Szoboszlai or even plan a track record to make him their Mo Salah’s replacement over a longer-term.

We have seen how the Merseyside Reds are not shying away from investing in young players, and that also reciprocates Liverpool’s interest in landing Brazilian gem Vitor Reis.

As Liverpool continue to build and plan for the future, adding talents like Maksimovic could not only help them save big bucks in the long term but also ensure that they have a talent nurtured under the right culture at Kirkby. However, it is to be seen if the officials at Anfield Stadium would fork out such money to land a teenager.
