Liverpool were dealt their first blow of the season as Chelsea defeated the Reds in the Carabao Cup. The Reds made a number of changes to the side as we face the Blues on Saturday again.
The likes of Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne and Alberto Moreno got their first starts but all eyes were on Fabinho as he made his long-awaited debut too.
The Brazilian hasn’t played a lot of minutes for the Reds this season and the former Monaco man had a bit of a slow start. But he did make some quality passes and interceptions as the minutes went by.
The midfielder was booked in the game but that only proves he needs more time on the pitch to truly show what he is capable of.
Some Liverpool fans were impressed by the performance of the Brazilian and were excited at what the future holds with the midfielder in the side.
Keita & Fabinho grew into the game last night but you can see why Klopp is bedding them in slowly. Especially given the high quality of opposition in this fixture run.
Has turned to those who know the system & style for the big games. Keita & Fab’s time will come for sure

Only Mane & Milner in that 11 have been regular starters this season. Keita & Fabinho are going to be great players once they settle, but it takes time to get up to speed with the pace. Sturridge & Shaquiri as back up? Yes we lost, but the bigger picture is better than ever. #LFC

Finally watched the entire game. Kevin friend I don’t know how this idiot became a referee. Such awful calls. Alberto Moreno has no right to be in this squad. He is just shite. Positives are Shaqiri, Keita, Fabinho was solid, Mignolet played well, Sturridge was 👍🏼

Fabinho played well today as far as first games go. Excellent player
Doubt he will play on the weekend though. I see him playing against Napoli

Don’t embarrass yourself doubting him. He will make you look like the biggest fool believe me.
Been very good today, doing his job. Defending the ball and distributing it well aswell as breaking down attacks. Go on Fabinho lad! pic.twitter.com/8fkecjm8dl
