Alisson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana take up extra training sessions
Three Liverpool players have stayed back for extra training sessions ahead of the clash against Manchester United.
Most of our first-team players are away on national duty but ESPN (h/t Liverpool Echo) claims that Alisson is taking extra sessions in hopes of getting fit to face the Red Devils.
We travel to Old Trafford after the international break and could pick up our ninth consecutive league win of the season.
The Red Devils have been in poor form and lie just two points above the relegation zone. Adrian has done a great job in place of Alisson, but the Brazilian is one of the best in the world.
The Brazilian hasn’t played since the opening week of the season but is back in full training. However, Alisson won’t be rushed back unless he is 100% fit, according to the report.
Ox and Lallana volunteer for extra sessions
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is still working hard to regain his fitness from a serious knee injury he suffered a couple of years ago.
The Englishman has looked a little off the pace in some games while Adam Lallana was injured for almost the entire season last time around.
The report adds that the Englishmen volunteered to remain at Melwood to take up additional training.
Liverpool need all their stars to be fit as the season only gets tougher in the coming weeks. We face Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City after the game against United, and also have Champions League games in between these fixtures.
Lallana and the Ox could provide some respite for the likes of Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum.
