3 Things Liverpool And Klopp Must Do To Win Against Leicester: Switch To 4-4-2 Diamond Formation

Switch to 4-4-2 Diamond Formation:

Liverpool played the 4-3-3 formation against Newcastle, West Brom and Watford and they failed to win in any of these matches. Now it may be time for Klopp to switch to the 4-4-2 Diamond formation. Coutinho should be made the key controller of the game. The Brazilian is Liverpool’s key playmaker, but recently he has not been able to contribute because he is often forced to move out wide due to the 4-3-3 formation. If Liverpool need to get the best out of Coutinho, then they should play him as the number 10. And also playing two strikers upfront might help Liverpool to score more and possess a constant threat.

Start Divock Origi and Christian Benteke:

If Klopp decides to switch to the 4-4-2 diamond formation, then the next question is who should start up front. Benteke? Firmino? Origi? Firmino has not been in good form lately and he could not contribute anything to Liverpool’s game last week against Watford. This week Klopp should bench Firmino and give the Belgian duo of Origi and Benteke a chance. Origi is high on confidence and more game time could bring the best out of him.

Christian Benteke is also not having a good time like Firmino, but things could turn around if he starts against Leicester. His physicality could be an advantage for Liverpool over Leicester’s weak defense. As both Origin and Benteke are fellow countrymen, they will want to help each other and there will be a natural chemistry among the two strikers. Benteke’s main drawback is his lack of speed and it could be solved when he is played along with a fast forward like Origi.
