Lallana has developed a lot – The Best And The Worst Rated Liverpool Players vs Villarreal

The Klopp brigade was at its best as the players displayed a fantastic display taking their team to the finals of the Europa league. The Reds were dominant from the start and the consistency was there till the final whistle. Here is a look at how the players performed on the big night.

Simon Mignolet – 7

The goalkeeper had to make certain crucial saves to avoid Villarreal from getting the important away goal. He was tested earlier in the game and the keeper was on his toes throughout.

Nathaniel Clyne – 7.5

He was busy making runs down the right side and was spot on with the marking. Clyne has cemented his position in the line-up. He can do better with the crosses though.

Kolo Toure – 7

The veteran defender was solid at the back. However, he made a couple of challenges inside the box which were risky. His partnership with Lovren was up to the mark.

Dejan Lovren – 8

Lovren was brilliant at the back with marking and positional play. He made a couple of crunching tackles which were absolutely crucial inside the box.

Alberto Moreno – 6.5

The left-back was caught out of position a few times during the breaks. He took a few digs at goal but then he was not that good defensively.

Emre Can – 7.5

Can showed clearly why Liverpool need him at the defensive midfield position. He was clearly missed in the first leg and in the league fixtures and his presence gave the side a lot of boost.

James Milner – 7.5

Liverpool rely on Milner a lot and he is always present across the park. His ability to play at different positions is what makes him a star at Anfield. He played a perfect role of a central midfielder.

Phillippe Coutinho – 6.5

Coutinho has set high standards for himself but in this game he was not at his best.

Roberto Firmino – 8.5 (Man of the match)

No Firmino for the game

Firmino made an assist for the second goal and was constantly creating chances for the side. His trickery was also impressive throughout the game. He was a threat to the Villarreal goal every time when he was around the box.

Adam Lallana – 8

Lallana has developed a lot under Klopp and it was evident in this game. He scored a goal with quick reflexes in the box and was consistent with position and runs on the right flank.

Daniel Sturridge – 8

Liverpool’s man up-front was clinical and took the responsibility on the big occasion. He scored one and almost got the last touch in the Reds first goal. Also, his presence at goal was a threat for Villarreal.

Substitutes

Joe Allen

He came in for Coutinho at the 82nd minute and was running around in the midfield to create chances.

Christian Benteke

He came in for Firmino at the 89th minute. The game was already put to bed by his fellow teammates till then.

Lucas Leiva

He was sent on the pitch for the last two minutes just to buy some time.
