Deal Done! Liverpool Completes The Deal For This Star Defender

Liverpool have confirmed that defender Jon Flanagan has signed for Premier League new comers Burnley on a season-long loan. The right-back who spent 20 months on the sidelines returned to action earlier this year. However, he found playing time hard to come by and the move to Burnley is expected to hand him extended playing time in the League and prove to the hierarchy at Liverpool that he deserves a chance at Anfield.

The Liverpool academy product broke into the  first team in 2010 and played a crucial role in his side’s title chase in the 2013-14 season, often acting as the leader of the defensive unit. However, his growth has been hampered by numerous injuries since then and Flanagan believes a move to Burnley might prove to be the best way to get back into Jurgen Klopp’s plans. The 23-year-old, who can play as a right-back and as a left-back is Burnley’s third signing of the season and is expected to bring some much-needed steel to its defence.

“I got the call off my agent and I am delighted it’s all done and I can get started. This is a massive club with passionate fans I can’t wait to get started,” Flanagan told Burnley’s official website.

“I’ve had a frustrating two years and got back for the second half of last season, which was good.

“My aim now is to get as many games as possible and get back to the fitness levels I had in 2013/14. I have been out a long time and I need to get back to that level, which means getting a consistent run of games.”
