Rating Liverpool’s Transfer Window: How Has Klopp Done So Far?

August has arrived and the premiere league kicks off in less than a week’s time. It is that stage of the transfer season where major activities in the market take place. Some clubs have major spending and have brought in stars from other leagues. Big names have arrived in the premiere league this time around and it promises to raise the bar in terms of competition and individual performances.

If we look at the way Liverpool have fared this season, Jurgen Klopp might not be the happiest, but with the way things have turned out so far, he might not be disappointed as well. The Reds have managed to bring in some quality players and some names have parted ways with Anfield. The transfer season is far from over and the manager has his eyes fixed on a few players with repetitive speculations and offers coming up in the news.

The bright side

Liverpool have brought in Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum as part of their comparatively big signings so far and both the players look really promising. Sadio Mane was exceptional in their game against Barcelona and looks the right wing is secured for this season. Wijnaldum has been asked to play at deeper positions and he has done a decent job so far. However, his favored position remains in the attacking midfield and he can do wonders if played there. Also, Marko Grujic has impressed many with his heroics in the pre-season friendly and especially with that brilliant header in the game against Barca.

Matip and Klavan are the new defensive pair and their prowess is yet to be witnessed at Anfield. All in all, the new team dynamics are looking really good at the moment and if form and fitness is maintained throughout the season, Liverpool are in for a good season this time around.

Unfilled positions

The top priorities for Jurgen Klopp at the moment look the full back positions, and especially the left back role. The Reds have been linked with a lot of quality players so far but no deal seems to fall through as of now. Liverpool will need to act quickly and bring in full backs to strengthen their side. Apart from that, the side looks in a pretty decent shape and with a lot of options. If Klopp manages to bring one big signing and address the full back woes, the Reds look set to pose a serious challenge this time around.
