Fantastic Henderson – The Best And The Worst Rated Liverpool Players From Their 1-2 Win Over Chelsea

Liverpool repeated their heroics from last season as they registered a 2-1 win over Chelsea. The Reds started the game brightly as Dejan Lovren scored from a Philippe Coutinho cross. Jordan Henderson doubled the lead with a great goal from way outside the box.

Chelsea looked toothless in the first half but came roaring back in the second. Diego Costa got the goal for the Blues but they were unable to get the equaliser. The Reds were magnificent, especially in the first half and here are the player ratings for the Liverpool side.

Simon Mignolet – 7/10

The Belgian goalkeeper didn’t really have a lot to do in the game. He couldn’t do much to stop the Chelsea goal and did keep a strong Diego Costa shot out.

Nathaniel Clyne – 7/10

The English defender surprisingly had an easy outing against Eden Hazard. Clyne was his usual self as he bombed up and down the pitch for the Reds.

Joel Matip – 7/10

Matip had a brilliant first half and he would have gotten a 9/10 had he not decided to go to ground easily which led to Diego Costa’s goal.

Dejan Lovren – 8/10

The Croatian defender made his return to the starting XI and scored an important goal for the Reds. Lovren was also great in defence as he kept Diego Costa in check for most of the game.

James Milner – 7/10

Left-back is not his natural position but Milner was good in this role and ensured Willian did not get a foothold in the game.

Jordan Henderson – 8/10

A goal of the season contender already, Henderson scored an incredible goal from way outside the box. Barring that, he controlled the midfield really well and this was his best game of the season.

Adam Lallana – 7/10

A bagful of energy, Adam Lallana was all about running. He might not have gotten on the score sheet but he was great with his link-up play with the rest of the team.

Georginio Wijnaldum – 6/10

Another game where Wijnaldum didn’t really do much for the side, as he was decent with his passing but we still do not know what his role in the side is.

Sadio Mane – 7/10

Mane was really threatening for the side in the first half but his energy levels were sapped in the second.

Philippe Coutinho – 6/10

The Brazilian had his moments in the first half but like the rest of the Liverpool players, he lost his way in the second half.

Daniel Sturridge – 5/10

The English striker looked out of sorts for most of the game; he did have a few good touches but was substituted early in the second half of the game.

Substitutes

Divock Origi – 6/10

The Belgian striker was brought on to replace Sturridge early in the second half but didn’t really do much for the Reds.

Lucas Leiva – NA

Lucas barely had anything to do in the game and was booked for a challenge on Hazard.

Kevin Stewart – NA

The youngster was brought on in the dying minutes of the game and could not make an impact.
