Wow! Chelsea Defender Praises Prolific Liverpool Attack

Liverpool’s recent triumph over Chelsea earned a lot of praise. The players showed the character and those two firs half goals were enough to bring the three points home. The opener came from an unexpected source, Dejan Lovren, while the second was the result of a pure attacking intact.

Liverpool were pressing high up in Chelsea’s half and that stumbled the Blues to give away the ball, which eventually came on to the feet of Jordan Henderson and the English international did the “Steven Gerrard”. They looked a little fragile in the second half and conceded a goal, but they managed to keep the score intact, i.e, 1-2.

David Luiz, who recently rejoined Chelsea, was handed his debut to replace the injured skipper John Terry and he was told to keep Liverpool attackers quiet, but the former PSG man saw it difficult to pursue.

“Liverpool controlled the game in the first half with a lot of possession, changing position,” Luiz told ChelseaFC.com (via the Echo). “Their second goal was amazing.”

He blamed Liverpool’s first strike — a volley from Dejan Lovren — on poor defensive awareness.

“[It] was a quick free-kick and we must pay attention to this sort of thing,” he said. “Normally you have a line to defend the free-kick but they played short and they played quickly, and we didn’t organize the line quickly so that is why they had two or three free players at the back and they scored a goal.”

“This is the Premier League. When you make a mistake and don’t pay attention, particularly from the free-kick, you pay,” he added.
