This English Star Has Been The Most Improved Player Under Jurgen Klopp – Agreed?

Jurgen Klopp’s presence has transformed the fortunes of many players at Liverpool. In terms of pure improvement, players who were already at the club when Klopp came would be a great barometer of the Germans success than players brought by him. There are cases of players like Daniel Sturridge going off the boil under Klopp, but his presence has so far been extremely good. It is especially true in the case of names like Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren. Of these two players, Lallana may take the crown as the most improved player at Liverpool under Klopp.

Signed from Southampton for around £25 million, the midfielder has been a regular first-team player but his versatility has seen managers used him in a number of positions across the pitch. Capable of playing as a left attacker, right attacker, or even as a central attacking midfielder, Lallana has been a breath of fresh air in the Liverpool team. He has essentially been important to hide away the inconsistent performances from summer signing Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson.

Lallana has been a major attacking force since he has been requested to defend less than under the previous regime. A return of three goals and three assists from six league outings speaks volumes about his impact on the pitch. He is already halfway towards his scoring record from last season and he has played just played six games so far. If he continues the same vein of form, Lallana could end up with his best scoring season for the Reds.

Last season, Lallana had a relatively average pass accuracy of 82.4%. It has jumped to a whopping 87.2% this season. A reason for his improved goal return is the 2.5 shots per game compared to the 1.5 shots per game he had last season.

As expected, the improvements made in attack have come at the cost of less impact defensively. After making an average of two tackles per a game last season, Lallana has only contributed 1.5 tackles in each match this season. Klopp is clearly asking the midfielder to spend more time in the attacking third of the pitch and it has been reflected quite positively.

Gone are the days when fans used to wonder about Lallana’s next move; the England international is now incredibly coming up with the best option more often than not. Lallana has not been showing in transformation just with Liverpool. He just scored his first goal for England in the World Cup qualifier against Slovakia a few weeks ago.

Lallana is easily the most improved player at Liverpool.
