Mamadou Sakho’s Snapchat Outburst Has Left Jurgen Klopp Impose A Warning On Liverpool Players

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has laid down the law for players regarding the use of social media. There have been a number of rumours doing the rounds about Mamadou Sakho’s injury and lack of first team action this season. And the French defender recently took out some of his frustration on Snapchat.

The 26-year-old defender stated that the Reds fans deserved to “know the truth”. Klopp was not too pleased with this development, Sakho even accused the club of “telling lies” about his exclusion from the side.

Jurgen Klopp sat down with the players at the club and reminded them of their duties. Sakho’s outburst did come on the day of the game against Hull and Klopp did speak about the situation.

“Those two things, they are not a rule for Mamadou Sakho. It is a rule for every player. Work hard and do your best.

“The rest of this? I spoke to Mama and we spoke together and that’s it. From my side, everything is done and we carry on. There is nothing else to say.”

A thin line for Sakho to tread

Mamadou Sakho has had a history of issues and recently was sent home from the pre-season tour of America. His outburst certainly would not have helped his situation at the club. He did, however, play in an U23 game against Wolfsburg in the Premier League International Cup.

The 26-year-old has seen his starting spot slip away due to the suspension from UEFA last season. Although he was cleared of any wrongdoing, his lack of game time affected his place in the team.

Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip have been excellent for the side this season and it will be really hard for Sakho to make it back to the starting XI now.

Best chance for Sakho is to work hard

As stated by Klopp, the best option for any player is to work hard. Sakho seems to be getting back into the good books and playing an U23 game is the right way to go.

The former PSG man was Liverpool’s best defender last season but Lovren has been excellent so far. Sakho could be playing a few EFL Cup games and that has to be another avenue for him to get into the starting XI.

The French defender certainly is treading a thin line and unless he tows the same line as Klopp, it could be curtains for him at Liverpool. This has to be the final warning for the former PSG man and if he commits another error, he could be shipped off in the January transfer window.
