Klopp Blocked An Initial £22.5m Move – Liverpool First Team Star Is Wanted By European Giants

Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho’s great start to the season has not gone unnoticed. According to reports from French magazine Le 10 Sport, the Brazilian is a target for PSG and the Ligue 1 champions will be looking to sign the 24-year-old in the January window.

The Daily Express, in fact, suggested that PSG had tabled a bid for the mercurial attacker in the summer. But Liverpool knocked the £22.5 million bid back and now Le 10 Sport believe that the Paris club is coming back with a better offer in the winter window.

PSG haven’t had the greatest of starts to their title defence and sit third in the Ligue 1. They have not been able to replace the talent of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and would be looking to add more quality in the side. Unai Emery is under a lot of pressure and signing a talismanic player could be the best way out for him.

Liverpool though need to keep hold of one of their jewels. Although Coutinho is not the kind of player that Luis Suarez was, he still is an important cog in the system. The movement and quick feet aside, Coutinho has formed a great partnership with other attackers in the Liverpool team.

Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana and Coutinho have been extremely good for the Reds this season and their understanding is getting better with each game.

Coutinho delivering the goods for the Reds

The Brazilian already has three goals and a couple of assists to his name this season in the Premier League. In all, he has scored four goals but apart from that, he seems to be working on his consistency. There have always been doubts about Coutinho going missing in games but that has not been the case so far.

The former Inter Milan player is one of the most important players in the Liverpool team. And he is carrying his form for his national side as well. Coutinho scored, along with Roberto Firmino, in the 5-0 win over Bolivia during the World Cup qualifiers.

If PSG are really serious about signing Coutinho, they would have to stump up a large sum of money. Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool have a great system going and messing around with it will not make sense. While the Reds should not think about parting with Coutinho at all, any sum of more than  £60-70 million will get FSG thinking, after all, they are money men.

Klopp though will be the strong headed one in this. He didn’t make a team just so it can be dismantled so quickly. Liverpool are playing some delightful football at the moment and even Coutinho looks the creative star that he is supposed to be.

The Reds have a great chance of achieving something great this time around and Coutinho staying will be crucial to any silverware coming to the club.
