Liverpool Close To Completing Deal For This €44.3 Million Star

Liverpool scored six past Watford on Sunday and one player that got on the score sheet was German midfielder Emre Can. The 22-year-old continued in the heart of the team in place of Georginio Wijnaldum and after a tough start, got his just rewards, as he headed in Liverpool’s third goal before half-time.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man, who is rated at €44.3 Million by the CIES Football Observatory, has cemented his place in the XI thanks to Wijnaldum’s injury during the last international break and seems to be getting better with each game. This was also his second goal of the season, which was his tally for the entirety of last season.

The 22-year-old’s performances seem to have caught the eye of the Liverpool management and according to the Express; his contract is going to be renewed.

Can’s current contract ends in 2018 but it seems the German wants to spend a few years more at Anfield.

“Yes, the club have spoken to my agent,” Can said. “The talks are going very good.

“I have one-and-a-half years left. I am still under contract and it is my agent’s work [to sort it out]. I am very happy here at Liverpool.”

Title talk is premature

Liverpool have been brilliant in attack this season and sit on top of the Premier League for the first time since May 2014. It is not a surprise that many are tipping the Reds to win their first ever Premier League and with no European football to distract them, it could come true.

Can though is not getting caught in the title talk and isn’t even sure about how the club could win it.

“If you play for a club like Liverpool you have to think always about titles,” Can added.

“The target at such a big club is always to win silverware. Of course we want to win the title but we don’t know if we will win it.

“We want to make history but it comes from hard work, it comes from belief, it comes from confidence.

“There’s a long, long way to go. We have to look not to tomorrow but to today. We can dream. Everybody can dream but you have to see the truth.”

A fearsome attack

While the midfielder seems to be enjoying his role alongside Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana, credit must be given to the front three of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. The players have torn most of the opponents to shreds and that has catapulted the Reds to the top of the table.

There still is a long way to go for the league season to end and even Klopp stated that the Reds have a long road to go. But the signs are looking good and if the midfield can dominate the opposition like they did against Crystal Palace and Watford, Liverpool will make it a title chase to remember.
