5 Clubs Including Newcastle United Target Liverpool’s £12m Rated Midfielder, But The Reds Are Not Interested In A Deal

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp might be looking to bring players into the club but he certainly isn’t willing to let go of a few stars in the winter window. While Daniel Sturridge may not be a Liverpool player next season, he certainly is sticking around in the winter window.

Kevin Stewart, on the other hand, might not be the biggest star at the club but he too isn’t being sold anytime soon. The German seems to be a fan of the 23-year-old and does not want to send him out on loan either.

The Daily Mail reports that at least five clubs are interested in taking the English midfielder on loan but Liverpool and Klopp are standing firm.

The 23-year-old is a target for Swansea City, Brighton and Hove Albion, Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa but he isn’t going anywhere at the moment.

This does seem to be a little confusing, to say the least, as Stewart hasn’t made many appearances in the Premier League, though he has featured in four games in other competitions. Klopp does see him to be a player that can start in place of Jordan Henderson and many expected the Englishman to start in the 2-2 draw against Sunderland.

The Reds were held to a 2-2 draw against the Black Cats and Henderson was also injured in the game.  It is expected that Stewart was going to play the FA Cup and EFL Cup games but should the Liverpool captain not return from injury, the 23-year-old could get more games under his belt.

Klopp expects Stewart to make it big at Liverpool

The German manager is believed to be hugely impressed by the progress of the Englishman at the club over the past year.

The Daily Mail also reports that the Merseyside club rates the 23-year-old at a valuation of £12 million and had even signed him to a long-term deal for another five years.

While Stewart did make his first team debut under Klopp, opportunities to start this season have been few and far between. This is down to the fact that the Reds are enjoying one of their best seasons ever and even if they do not claim the title, a top four finish is certainly within reach.

The lack of European football has also affected the chances of Stewart playing regularly for the first team but he is expected to play against Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup at the weekend. This would be the best chance for him to display his skills and also prove to people that he is the man to replace Henderson during the captain’s absence.
