Liverpool Block The Move Of 19-year-old Forward To America Despite Lack Of Game Time

Liverpool youngster Brooks Lennon is the talk of a transfer from the United States of America according to ESPN. The report claims that the American is a target for Real Salt Lake from the MLS. The Premier League club signed the youngster in the summer of 2015 but he has not been able to make a first team appearance yet.

Lennon was signed from Real Salt Lake City and the Reds aren’t willing to let one of their talented players leave on a permanent deal. The 19-year-old though could leave on a loan deal to gain more experience and that would be the best move for him at the moment.

The American has done pretty well for the Liverpool U23 side and has even represented the American national team in the youth level. Lennon also scored 31 goals in the 2014-15 campaign for the Real Salt Lake City Academy, which set him for a move to Liverpool.

Competition is tough at Liverpool

Lennon shouldn’t be disappointed at not making a first team appearance side yet. The Merseyside club have a lot of players who are at the top of their game at the moment and only the best youngsters are getting chances to prove their ability.

What could be a concern for Lennon is the fact that he wasn’t able to play in some of the cup games, especially when the likes of Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho were not part of the side. The Reds have played with Ben Woodburn as the solitary striker in some games but the Merseyside club often play with three forwards and Lennon would have hoped to pick up some first-team minutes under his belt.

For now, he does need to move away and pick up some games that can prove he will be a hit at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp has shown that if a young player has the ability, he will have the chance to strut his stuff on the pitch.

It isn’t just Woodburn who has gotten chances this season with the likes of Kevin Stewart, Sheyi Ojo, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ovie Ejaria picking up a lot of experience while starting games. Lennon too must be hoping that his day comes soon but moving to the US might not be the best deal.

A loan deal to a Championship side would be the perfect move for him as he would get to play in England and learn more about the league and style of play. He still has time on his hands and it will be interesting to see just where he ends up going.
