Deal Done – Liverpool Completes The Deal For This 22-Year-Old Attacker

It was fairly a boring winter window for Liverpool but before the closing bell tolled, the club allowed a number of players to leave on loan, which includes Jack Dunn.

The 22-year-old has penned a temporary move to Tranmere Rovers till the end of the campaign. The Merseyside club confirmed the transfer on their official website.

Earlier this season, he was on a loan at Morecambe where he managed to find the back of the net six times out of 19 appearances, including an impressive hat-trick against Rotherham in the EFL tournament.

He returned to his parent club in November and continued to reap up positive reviews with the U23s squad, where he bagged the match ball yet again with a hat-trick in a friendly against Bangor City. However, with the ladder to first-team action already occupied by Rhian Brewster and Ben Woodburn ahead of him, another loan spell won’t hurt him much.

He previously had loan periods with Burton Albion and Cheltenham Town, where he racked up 3 goals in total.

The bulky attacker will look to increase his stock by helping Micky Mellon’s team to promotion from National League. The Super White Army are currently third in the league, five points adrift of table toppers Lincoln City. Their 44-year-old manager was downright delighted with his latest capture.

He said: “I’m delighted to bring a player of Jack’s quality to the club. He’s got a lot of talent and hopefully he’ll have a big role to play for us in the coming months. We’re grateful to Liverpool for allowing Jack to join us for the rest of the season.”

Already into the final six months of his Liverpool agreement, time is certainly not on his side. The maths seems pretty simple, either hit the ground running with his current club and catch Jurgen Klopp’s attention or turn into a journeyman with additional loan spells (if his contract is extended at Liverpool) or find a new place to call home.

The latter option would be a huge hiccup for Dunn as he has been with the club since the age of six.

Besides earning a positive name as a prolific striker by academy caretakers, he is also capable of playing on either flank or pull the strings behind a forward. Which are crucial attributes for managers these days who are more than happy to offer their attackers the freedom to float around the final third to produce the goods. In other words, if he does impress at Tranmere, he could easily elbow his way past other contenders to feature in Klopp’s plans.

Other players who left the Premier League giants to secure playing minutes were Mamadou Sakho, Lazar Markovic, Cameron Brannagan, Tiago Ilori, Pedro Chirivella.
