Liverpool Could Sign Long Term Bundesliga Target For Just £8.5 million – Report

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was left frustrated with the lack of signings in the winter transfer window and not adding to his side certainly cost the Reds as they slipped down the league table.

One of his targets Mahmoud Dahoud was not allowed to leave his club Borussia Monchengladbach and it is expected that Klopp will move for the German midfielder once again.

The 21-year-old has turned out to become one of the best players for the Bundesliga side in the 2014-15 season and has been linked with a move to a number of clubs across Europe which includes Barcelona.

While Klopp does have the upper hand in knowing the Bundesliga really well, Liverpool wouldn’t be able to fight with the monetary resources a PSG or Barcelona have. However, Calciomercato believes that the German midfielder could be purchased for a low fee of just £8.5 million.

The Italian outlet claims the midfielder has a contract till 2018 and a clause in his contract allow him to leave in the summer of 2017 for the paltry sum.

Dahoud hasn’t had the greatest of seasons for the Bundesliga side and has only scored just one goal and provided a couple of assists in the league campaign.

Liverpool would be pleased to find out that they can sign Dahoud for such a low price but they will face a lot of competition for the youngster. Barcelona seems to be set to make a move for the 21-year-old and it will be tough to pry any player away from the interest of the Catalan giants.

It was also reported that Klopp has finalised which players he will move for in the summer and will ensure that Liverpool get the players they missed out on in the January transfer window.

The list features a range of Bundesliga stars which include Christian Pulisic and Julian Brandt. While both the players are young attackers, there is a need for some midfield steel and stability in the side, something that Dahoud can provide.

The German can play as a defensive midfielder or as a box to box attacker and is known for his excellent range of passing. He isn’t as defensive or restricted as Emre Can is and he could provide the perfect foil to play alongside Jordan Henderson next season.

Liverpool do need more quality in their side and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they sign a few midfielders and replace a few current players as Klopp looks to take the Reds to the next level next season.
