Should Liverpool Go Ahead And Complete The Signing Of This Chelsea Youngster?

Liverpool have been looking to add more attacking quality to their team but it seems that there are a few players that do want to join them. Dominic Solanke, the Chelsea striker, stated recently that he was set to quit the Stamford Bridge club and is considering a move to Liverpool.

The young English striker is one of the highest rated players at the London club and it is a surprise that the 19-year-old hasn’t been given any playing time in the Premier League this season as well.

Solanke, growing frustrated with his lack of chances in the first team at Chelsea, certainly needs to move to another club but would he be the right signing for the Merseyside club?

The Merseyside club have been looking for a striker that can not only play up top but also put pressure on the opposition. Jurgen Klopp likes playing with Roberto Firmino and the Brazilian, apart from scoring a few goals, does a lot of pressing that plays into the hands of the Reds.

Solanke, for his part, can play in a little withdrawn role and does not have to play off the shoulder of the opposition defence but he can do the job of a Daniel Sturridge if required too. The Englishman can also play in midfield and is known to create something out of nothing, with a few pundits even comparing him to Luis Suarez when the Uruguayan was destroying teams on his own in the Premier League.

The youngster can also hold the ball well and is known for his heading ability too. While he still is 19 and has a lot of time ahead of him, there are a few aspects of the game he has to work on. He is a little greedy when it comes to holding onto the ball and often leads to problems for his side and he also isn’t the tallest player in the world, so he can be dominated in the air at times.

There have been similarities with Solanke and Didier Drogba, who is a legend at Stamford Bridge and with him thinking of a move away from the club, he could be seen as another Romelu Lukaku.

Either way, if he does join Liverpool it might not be the best move for him as his defensive output in the game isn’t the best and that is something that Klopp would have to work on a lot. There are other strikers already at the club that seem to be higher up the pecking order, one of them being Ben Woodburn.

The Reds need quality in their starting XI and even though Solanke had a decent spell at Vitesse Arnhem last season, he does not seem to be ready for a role in the main squad of a Premier League side yet.

Liverpool should look elsewhere for a star player while Solanke should look to join a mid-table club as he looks to get a Premier League experience. He still has a bright future ahead of him and a move to a big club after a few years could still be on the cards.
