Liverpool Step Up Interest To Sign £10 Million Rated Championship Striker Amid Interests From Premier League Rivals

Liverpool are said to be ready to step up their interest in Nottingham Forest’s young striker Ben Brereton. The youngster is reportedly valued at £10 million.

The 17-year-old is currently away from the City Ground on international duty, having been called up to the England Under-19s squad for the first time.

He could play in three European Championship qualifiers at St George’s Park against Norway, Spain, and Belarus.

It has been reported by the Nottingham Post that the youngster has attracted strong interest from Liverpool and other Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal. Senior scouts from those clubs – as well as Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham, and Everton – watched Forest’s FA Youth Cup tie with Stoke City in January, with Brereton playing for the Reds in that tie.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is understood to be a big fan and is planning to move for the 17-year old striker.

Brereton has made 10 appearances in the Championship this season and has scored 3 goals and has 2 assists to his name. The numbers are impressive considering the fact that he is still so young. Though he may not walk into Jurgen Klopp’s first team in the immediate future, he will be a great investment for Liverpool in the longer run and this might get the fans excited as the player is someone who is highly rated and is immensely talented.

The England U-19 side face Norway on Wednesday before tackling Spain on Friday and Belarus on Monday – and if Brereton gets his chance and impresses it is likely to raise his profile even more.

There is every chance of Klopp moving for the player as he is known for his approach to encourage young players coming through the academy. Without a doubt, Brereton would be a great addition to the Liverpool academy. The 17-year old striker is very strong in the air and is also a good dribbler.
