Transfer Boost – Jurgen Klopp Hints Liverpool’s Summer Transfer Plans Are Already Underway

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp subtly hinted that the Premier League giants are working hard behind the scenes to get their transfers done in the summer. The Reds were leading the Premier League at one stage of the season but a number of injuries from January have affected the performances of the team and they have slipped down to third in the standings.

The Merseyside club might not even make it to the Champions League next season should the Manchester clubs win all their remaining games and Klopp did state that his side were unlucky with the injuries they have had to deal with.

Liverpool currently have the likes of Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge injured while Adam Lallana is slowly recovering from an injury as well.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Klopp said:

“We are not surprised when Mane is sidelined, Lallana is sidelined, Henderson is sidelined, Sturridge is sidelined – we are not surprised about this [lack of depth of the bench].

“It was unlucky that all at the same moment we cannot use them.

“We still could have won the game, that’s how it is. We will learn, we are working on strengthening the squad, that’s clear.”

The German alluded that he would not be letting a similar fate take over next season and blamed the injuries for the problems of the Reds.

“We can’t create a situation where great players can’t play any time. We had to create a squad for this season.

“The average age of the bench (last weekend) was 19.2 – not too experienced. With too many injuries we’ve had some problems.”

Liverpool will be hopeful of Adam Lallana returning to the first-team when they play Watford away from home. The Reds lost their last game against Crystal Palace, which has put them in a precarious position as they look to close out a season that has been extremely inconsistent.

Transfer targets will only materialize if Liverpool make it to the top four and the way the season has gone, that might be tough for the Reds if they play as they did against Palace.
