Former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is currently in charge of Newcastle United, who he took over at the end of last season. He chose to stick with the Magpies despite getting relegated to the Championship and was lauded for his decision, as he is one of the top most coaches in the world.
However, it looks like the choice has paid off. Newcastle United are back in the Premier League, and how! They have won the EFL Championship to make it back to the Premier League. After looking like favourites to winning the championship, to losing the plot in between and making Brighton look like favourites, to win the title on the final day of the EFL Championship season, Newcastle have had a roller coaster season under Benitez.
His time at Anfield saw the Spaniard famously lift the Champions League trophy in 2005, which will forever remain close to Liverpool fans’ hearts. Apart from that, he won the FA Cup the following season, in 2006 and also the FA Community Sheild. He also took the Reds close to Premier League glory, when Benitez’ Liverpool finished as runners-up to Manchester United in 2009.
The Liverpool fans do not seem to have forgotten any of these achievements and took the Twitter to congratulate him on his remarkable achievement in bringing Newcastle United back to the English top flight.
