Liverpool Offered Chance To Hijack Real Madrid’s Move For €30million French Left-back

Liverpool have been handed a chance to hijack Real Madrid’s move for on-loan Atletico Madrid left-back Theo Hernandez, according to Marca. The Spanish news outlet claim that the Reds have been offered a chance to seal a deal for the player, as Atletico Madrid are keen on avoiding a sale to their cross-city rivals. Barcelona are the other team to have been offered a chance to sign Hernandez.

The report also claims that Atletico have set a €30million price tag, despite the Frenchman’s release clause being at €24million. It was reported by Marca

that the defender had passed a medical with Real Madrid to force a move. Real Madrid are hopeful of sealing the deal for the player once the Copa Del Rey final comes to a conclusion as Hernandez will face Barcelona as a part of Deportivo Alaves, where he is currently on loan at.

But with Atletico Madrid seemingly adamant on not letting the player join Real Madrid, Liverpool can look to take advantage of the situation.

Liverpool have managed to play this season with Milner at left-back position but it isn’t the long-term solution, though the Englishman has been solid for the Reds.

The Kop Times Verdict

Hernandez would be an amazing fit for Liverpool. He is a really good dribbler, his crossing is brilliant, and is strong on and off the ball as well. Though he has disciplinary issues on the field, it is something that can be worked upon. He is 19-years old and his gameplay belies his age. He would surely be an excellent signing for Klopp – no doubt.

The fact that Real Madrid are targeting the left-back speaks volumes about the lad’s ability and would be a real coup if Liverpool can complete the deal.

Atletico Madrid would rather sell Hernandez to Liverpool than selling him to Real Madrid or Barcelona. Atletico are an ambitious club and they would want to avoid strengthening either of their rivals.

The price would also come down if Atletico do not receive any other offer for the player. If it is the case that only Liverpool, Barcelona, and Real Madrid are the ones chasing the player seriously, then certainly, Atletico would do business with Liverpool than the other two Spanish giants. However, nothing much can be done if Hernandez remains stern on joining Real Madrid.

Do you think we must sign Hernandez?
