Liverpool Put On Red Alert As Striker Target Can Leave Serie A Club For Right Price – Reports

Liverpool are on red alert as one of their targets for a number of months, Luis Muriel, could be sold to a foreign club.

Muriel plays as a striker for Sampdoria and Tutto Mercato (h/t talkSport) carries a report that the 26-year-old striker will be sold by Sampdoria to a club outside Italy should they get the right bid.

The Serie A club initially feared that they wouldn’t be able to replace the forward but the report claims they are willing to let go of their star as long as he does not strengthen any of their rivals.

Liverpool lack a genuine goalscorer in their ranks, even though Daniel Sturridge recently showed just how good he really is, in the 4-0 win over West Ham United. Unfortunately, it could have come a little too late as most of us are frustrated with the injuries that have hampered his career.

Jurgen Klopp hasn’t confirmed if Sturridge will remain at the club in the summer. Even if Sturridge does stay, we can safely assume that a new forward who can play in the Klopp style of football will be coming in.

Muriel does seem to be a player who can be a brute force at the tip of the attack. He has scored 10 goals and 5 assists in the Serie A but a fit Sturridge, even for half a season, would be a better option to have than the Colombian.

Our Verdict

This report does seem to be a ploy to get the player out of the club. Sampdoria might also be looking to sell the player for the highest price but Muriel doesn’t seem to be the perfect player for us.

Apart from the lack of goals, his age is a big concern and with little or no experience of playing in English league, we can all give this player a pass.
