£100m-plus Transfer Kitty Is Ready – Liverpool Boss Klopp Admits The Club Are In Talks To Sign ‘Good Players’

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that the club’s performance in the transfer market will be directly affected by the team’s performance on the pitch against Middlesbrough on the final game day of the 2016/17 Premier League season.

The Reds are currently at 4th place in the table and are closely followed by Arsenal, who are just 1 point behind. Anything other than a win would be disastrous for Liverpool as Arsenal could overtake them by beating Everton at the Emirates. As hard as it is, Kopites are left with no choice than to hope for an Everton win to make life easy for Klopp’s men.

Irrespective of the results on the final day, European football for next season is assured. It is now only a matter of deciding whether the participation would be in Champions League or in the Europa League. However, Klopp feels that the lure of Champions League football is important for Liverpool to attract top players and he has openly admitted that they are in talks with good players.

Klopp was quoted by The Mirror,

“The better we finish, maybe the easier it will be. It has a (big) influence, and that’s how it is. The players we are talking to are good players and I know they have offers from other clubs. Maybe they will play Champions League whatever (happens in Sunday’s game). The transfer talks we’ve had have been very positive so far, but that doesn’t mean that they will always work out.”

Klopp has managed to balance the books so far with virtually a break-even net spend in his first three transfer windows at Anfield. For his fourth window, he has made clear that will not be possible and the Mirror say he is likely to get £100m-plus to spend this summer.

The German also admitted that it is difficult nowadays to sign unknown players with potential as the scouting these days has become extensive.

He added: “The world of football is not like this any more, that you can find a player nobody else is aware of — ‘We have him and nobody knows about him.’ That’s really, really rare.”

Liverpool have been in the Champions League only once in the last six seasons and crashed out of it after the group stage. Hopefully, the boys beat Middlesbrough and finish the season on a real high. It would be great to start the new campaign with some quality new signings in our squad.

Who do you think Klopp should buy with the reported £100m-plus transfer kitty?
