Deal Official: Liverpool Reach Agreement To Complete Transfer For 24-year Old Andre Wisdom

Liverpool have decided to sell one of their right-backs, who couldn’t cut it into the first team, to Derby County. Andre Wisdom, who was on loan at RB Salzburg last season, is surplus to requirements currently and will rejoin the club where he spent a season on loan in 2014-15.

The English defender had a great season for the Rams and represented them 38 times and will look to play a huge role as they plot a return to the Premier League next season, according to our official site.

Wisdom has spent a number of seasons away from the club on loan with clubs such as West Bromwich Albion, Norwich City and even ended up at Austrian side Salzburg where he picked up the Austrian league title.

That, however, was not enough to convince Klopp that he is part of our plans and the only thing standing in the way of him moving to Derby earlier was the price point and we were reported to be holding out for close to £2 million.

Wisdom would have hoped that he would get a chance to play more games for us this season, especially due to the European ties but the rise of Trent Alexander-Arnold has more or less ensured that Wisdom wouldn’t even be second choice to Nathaniel Clyne.

The 24-year-old did make his debut for us under Brendan Rodgers and it did look like Wisdom would be a future first-team member but things just have not worked out for him since the 2012-13 season.

Klopp too has been on a roll, letting go of players that don’t seem to make the cut under him, such as Jordon Ibe and Brad Smith, who both were part of the academy setup.

The deal is actually a great one for Wisdom, who still has some good years ahead of him to develop and grow. Playing for Derby will give him regular game time, while also keeping him in touch with the English game rather than spending time away on loan in Austria or Belgium.

We might keep a tab on his progress and should have included a buy-back clause. There have been instances when players have come good once sold and maybe, there is some hope for the Englishman to make a return in a few years or so.
