Klopp Is Keen To Complete ₤15million Deal And Is Not Interested In a Swap Deal

Liverpool are not interested in bringing Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam to the club according to the Liverpool Echo. We have been linked with a move for the Algerian and were even looking to swap him for Alberto Moreno, who was expected to join the Serie A side.

The report from the Echo claims that Jurgen Klopp does not see Ghoulam as the solution to our left-back problems and instead wants a cash only deal for Alberto Moreno. We rejected a ₤11million offer for Moreno and are holding out for ₤15million according to the report.

Ghoulam did play 29 games in the league for Napoli and chipped in with 6 assists too. The 26-year-old would certainly be an upgrade on Moreno but the deal does seem to be off at the moment.

We have been in the hunt for a quality left-back since the end of last season but things aren’t going as well as we would have hoped for. It is imperative that we bring in someone who is a natural fullback and not look to shoehorn James Milner once again.

Though the former Manchester City man did extremely well in the position, having someone who is a proper left-back would actually give us another dimension in the attack. Rather than James having to cut back to his right foot or crossing with his weaker foot, we would do well to have a natural left footer, who can charge up the left flank and help out during attacks.

What is a certainty is that Moreno is set to leave the club in the summer and the sooner we find a proper replacement for the player, the better it would be for the team and the fans alike. Ghoulam could have been a decent option to have but it would be considered a major risk seeing that he does not have any Premier League experience.

Klopp seems to be targeting players that he knows will do well for us. Fortunately for us, we still have time before the window shuts and we should sign a quality left-back before the first league game kicks-off in August.
