Liverpool Fans Can Breathe A Sigh Of Relief As Key Midfielder’s Injury Is Not Serious

Liverpool fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Emre Can has not picked up a major injury during his time in the Confederations Cup being held in Russia. The star midfielder had picked up a knock in training recently and there were fears that the 23-year-old could be out for a while.

However, Joachim Low, the Germany manager, shared the good news that Can did not injure himself seriously and it was just a slight niggle.

As quoted by Turkish Football, the Germany manager was speaking ahead of the clash against Cameroon.

“During training, Emre Can has sustained a minor injury.

“He bent over on the pitch. His boot got stuck in the grass. We will have to see how he feels because he had to break off training.”

Can had become one of the mainstays in the team last season, especially during Jordan Henderson’s injury took him out of the squad in the second half of the season.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man did score a few vital goals as well, and all of us will remember his spectacular goal against Watford. It has been due to such performances in the latter half of the previous campaign that has seen Can seal a position in the Germany team for the current tournament.

Even though the team is a second string one, playing for your country is a big deal and if Can keeps on performing for both club and country, he will turn out to become one of the best in the world.

There is some concern regarding his future at the club as he only has one year left on his current deal and both sides are trying their best to complete a contract extension.

Can staying with us is imperative not only to the team having a quality player but also for his development. Under Jurgen Klopp, the German has gone from strength to strength and he will only get better next season as we have a number of games to play in Europe too.

The German is seen as a future captain for us too and his performances are getting better with each game going by. The big question is where would he play once we see the return of Henderson from the injury.

The Englishman would often play in the deepest role while Can would play a little further up. But with Mohamed Salah joining the side and Philippe Coutinho expecting to play a central role from midfield, only Can or Georginio Wijnaldum could start alongside Hendo.

It is going to be an interesting few months for us as Klopp looks to decide on his starting XI but this is a good problem to have and the German would not really be complaining.
