Odds Slashed For Liverpool To Sign Top Everton Target, But They Remain In Pole Position

Everton have been looking to sign Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson and while that transfer saga has been going on for some time now, bookmakers Sky Bet have installed Liverpool as shock outsiders to sign the Icelandic international. We have been listed as 8/1 outsiders for the 27-year-old midfielder, who was one reason why the Swans ended up remaining in the Premier League last season.

Sigurdsson has had a history of playing for big clubs but unfortunately, things did not work out for him when he moved to Tottenham. The talented midfielder moved back to Swansea and has flourished for the Welsh club.

Last season was another great one for the former Spurs man as he scored 9 goals and provided 13 assists in 38 Premier League games. Those goals were worth their weight in gold for Paul Clement’s side as they avoided the drop and it would be tough for the side to lose one of their stars so late in the transfer window.

Everton are still listed as 1/10 favourites to sign Sigurdsson and it would be a major surprise if any other club does get him. Ronald Koeman has already stated that Ross Barkley would be sold as soon as the right price comes in for him and Sigurdsson would be a great replacement for the Englishman.

A History With Sigurdsson But Never A Close Enough Deal

We have always been linked with the 27-year-old and for some reason, we were just never able to complete a move for the midfielder. Brendan Rodgers wanted to sign him up but the Icelandic star decided to move to Spurs. But that certainly did not work all that well for him.

Quality midfielders who can link with the attack or threaten with their deliveries have been missing at our club for a while and even though Sigurdsson might be a little overpriced at the moment, he does have his moments of brilliance.

Everton might be pushed out of the deal if we decide to spend just a little bit more but it is unlikely that Klopp would want to bring him to Liverpool.
