Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward wants to hold talks about his playing time with Jurgen Klopp according to a report from the Wales Online. The 24-year-old was guaranteed of playing time, as the German manager wanted to keep hold of three senior keepers this season.

However, Ward was not named in the side for the 3-3 draw against Watford in the season opener this past weekend and now wants assurances that he would get games this season.

The 24-year-old was the hero for Huddersfield Town last season as they ended up winning the Championship Play-offs and made it to the Premier League. Ward made crucial saves in the penalty shoot-out as the side dumped out Reading. David Wagner, the Huddersfield manager has worked under Klopp, wanted to sign Ward on loan for this season too.

While Klopp rejected that notion, Ward should get a few games at least before the end of the season. The 24-year-old should play a number of our domestic cup games while Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius play in the Premier League and the European competitions.

The latter duo didn’t have the greatest of seasons last time around and Klopp had to keep switching between the pair as both failed to impress. Fortunately for us, Mignolet picked up the slack in the second half of the season and did really well between the sticks as we finished 4th in the league.

Ward, on the other hand, did extremely well in pre-season and even got to feature in the Audi Cup final. The Welshman could still end up playing at Huddersfield according to the report

. Wagner is still keen on bringing the youngster to Huddersfield and a deal could be thrashed out where a recall clause is inserted for Klopp to activate this season, if and when he likes to.

Ward Needs Games To Develop

While Klopp might want three keepers, it makes little sense unless Ward gets a lot of playing time. That probably won’t happen and the 24-year-old needs to play regularly to get better between the sticks.

Moving to Huddersfield would not be a bad move after all and with a recall clause also available, Klopp can bring the Welshman back should either Mignolet or Karius drop the ball.
