‘He feels at home here’ – Club Director Reveals That Liverpool Target Has No Release Clause

RB Leipzig are in our sights once again as one of their star players has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool. The Metro reports that we are interested in 21-year-old striker Timo Werner. The German was excellent for the Bundesliga side last season and has been on fire this time around as well.

Werner has scored four goals already for the German club and in the last international break, he scored thrice in just two games.

What won’t be a surprise is that Jurgen Klopp was interested in the German striker in the summer window too, but we have to be happy after signing Naby Keita. The Guinea midfielder was one of the most impressive midfielders last season in the German league and after a long summer of back and forth, we finally got the 22-year-old, even though he would be joining us at the start of next season.

Werner has also caught the attention of Real Madrid, which means there could be a bidding war. This is exactly what the Bundesliga side want, as their director Oliver Mintzlaff has said that the 21-year-old striker does not have a release clause in his contract.

“He has a contract until 2020 and he feels at home here,” Mintzlaff was quoted as saying by Metro, before confirming he had no release clause.

The director further added why Werner should stick to Leipzig and develop into a world class player.

“We are playing in the Champions League. With this, we can offer Timo everything to continue his development here.

“We are completely relaxed. Here, he has the perfect platform.”

Liverpool To Splash Big In The Summer Again?

Werner would be perfect to our system, thanks to his endless running and ability to work the channels. We do require more cover for the likes of Roberto Firmino and this move for the German could mark the end of Daniel Sturridge and even Danny Ings to an extent.

The German, joining along with Keita would certainly make our attack one of the best, but surely now, we should look to make our defence better.
