Liverpool Prepare January Raid For Man United Target, But The Red Devils Have Favourable Odds

Liverpool have reportedly joined the race for the signature of Tottenham left-back Danny Rose. If these reports are true, then the Reds would be battling it out with eternal rivals Manchester United for his signature. According to BetStars, (h/t Daily Star), the defender is a priority target for Reds manager Jurgen Klopp. This is an interesting development, isn’t it?

Manchester United were suggested to be the prime contenders after Rose came out and complained about the pay structure in vogue at Tottenham. He even claimed that he would be willing to look at an offer if it was the best thing for him to do.

Although Rose was forced to apologise to the club, his manager Mauricio Pochettino and the fans, the player has been at loggerheads with the club. Every little move of his is being scrutinized, and it now looks like Rose has made up his mind to leave the club.

All the while, it looked like United were in the driver’s seat, not just because of being Rose’s preference but also because Pochettino being open to allowing a swap deal involving Rose and Luke Shaw. However, Liverpool are reportedly flirting with the idea of bidding for his services. Be it in the January transfer window or in the next summer, the Reds are looking at testing the waters with an approach for the left-back.

But, how feasible is this transfer? The bookies are still tipping United as favourites at odds of 4/6 but Liverpool are now the second favourites at 5/1.

However, I doubt if that would be the case because Alberto Moreno has shown the form to get back into the good books of Klopp. With Andrew Robertson showing his skill to be the long-term choice there, I doubt if Klopp would seriously prioritise a deal for Rose.

However, should Klopp get a chance to sign him, it may not be a bad option to go for the England international.
