Liverpool will be in action on the Boxing Day when they host relegation-threatened Swansea City at Anfield in the Premier League.
Despite the exhilarating 3-3 stalemate against Arsenal in which Liverpool dominated, Jurgen Klopp’s men will be high on confidence when they take on a managerless Swansea on Tuesday. Liverpool’s record at Anfield is far from impressive and they need to be at their lethal best to grab another home league win of the season and keep pace with our rivals.
A suspected hamstring injury will keep Reds’ skipper Jordan Henderson sidelined for the game against the Swans. Other than that, Klopp will be without the likes of Joel Matip, Danny Ward, Alberto Moreno and Adam Bogdan.
Nathaniel Clyne hasn’t featured for the club this season and is expected to be out after the New Year too, with a back injury. Meanwhile, Dejan Lovren will have to be careful as the Croatian is on 4 yellow cards at the moment.
Mignolet received a lot of brickbats for his performance against Arsenal. Yet, Klopp will go with the Belgian on Tuesday.
Other than his poor marking for Alexis Sanchez’s goal that helped the Gunners make a comeback in the game, Gomez had a decent game. He is expected to start against the Swans.
Lovren was not at his best at the Emirates. Will be itching to bounce back with a strong display in the midweek fixture.
The Estonian centre-half has been fairly solid of late and will be hoping to continue in the same way against the visiting Swansea side.
Andrew Robertson has stepped up well in Moreno’s absence and will start again on Tuesday.
In skipper Henderson’s absence, Can will be asked to sit deep, shield the defence and dictate the tempo of the game.
Chamberlain didn’t receive the best of welcomes at Emirates as Arsenal fans jeered their former player. However, the England international has settled very well in Klopp’s system despite a slow start.
The Brazilian is in the best form of his life. Scored the opener against Arsenal with a glancing header past Petr Cech and orchestrated his side’s attack. Swansea have to keep a special check on Coutinho.
A brilliant piece of individual skill against Arsenal gave Salah his 21st goal of the season. He has been a revelation under Klopp and is an odds-on favourite to score against Swansea.
Mane’s wastefulness in front of the goal cost Liverpool a win at Emirates. He has been lackadaisical in the last few games but needs to get back his mojo tomorrow.
Firmino slotted the equaliser for Liverpool against Arsenal. There is no stopping this Brazilian, who looks to be an inch-perfect striker for Klopp. A definite starter!
