Liverpool receive double injury boost ahead of Manchester City clash

Mohamed Salah

Liverpool have been handed a major injury boost ahead of the big game against Manchester City as Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge were seen training with the team on Wednesday. This is important because it would be virtually impossible to breach the Manchester City defence without the mercurial Salah in the team.

Salah has missed the last two outings due to a groin issue while Sturridge has not featured since the Champions League victory over Spartak Moscow on December 6 due to illness and a muscle injury. The club announced on its official website

that the duo participated in first-team training yesterday.

The game against Manchester City on Sunday is a much-anticipated one as the Cityzens are walking their way to the title. They’ve been absolutely top notch this season and are unbeaten in the league after 22 games. They have dropped just 4 points on the whole and are looking way too strong for other Premier League teams’ liking.

With Philippe Coutinho having left the club, we’ll have to look for inspiration from elsewhere. This will be our first game after the magical Brazilian’s departure and it’ll be interesting to see how we fare. There’s a lot of belief among everyone that we’ll become the first team to beat Manchester City in the Premier League this season.

While we have struggled at the back, Man City have been a complete side on the pitch. However, now that we’ve sorted our problems out by signing Virgil van Dijk, it remains to be seen how much difference that would make when we face the league leaders on Sunday.

Salah’s return comes at a crucial time and I am sure Pep Guardiola will be busy devising a plan to stop our Egyptian genius. Mo Salah has scored 23 goals and 8 assists in 29 games this season and has taken the English top-flight by storm.

With him returning to the mix and Sturridge being available as well, Klopp will be a relieved man ahead of this high-profile clash at Anfield. This is our chance to seek revenge for the 5-0 defeat we suffered at the Etihad earlier in the season.
