Liverpool dealt transfer blow as £70million-rated target comments on Real Madrid interest

Alisson

Liverpool’s bid to sign Alisson from AS Roma has already hit troubled waters as Real Madrid have joined the race to sign the 25-year-old Brazilian, becoming the favourites to complete his signature. (The Mirror)

Even though we have Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet in our side, Jurgen Klopp is adamant that he wants a new keeper at Anfield next season and was willing to plunge deep into the transfer kitty and smash the record for the most expensive keeper by signing Alisson.

The £70million-rated keeper has now come out and stated that he would prefer a move to the La Liga giants and not Liverpool, according to the Mirror.

Real have been trying to sign a keeper for a long time with David de Gea being their number one target but with the Spaniard looking set to remain at Old Trafford, Alisson seems to be the right player to move to Spain.

“Real Madrid’s interest in me makes me happy, I won’t deny that,” Alisson said.

“I’m very happy when a club speaks well of me, it means I’m doing well and that they’re following me. Imagine when a club like Real Madrid does that… but for now I’m focused on Roma.”

Roma have made it to the last eight of the Champions League, thanks to the heroics of the 25-year-old keeper.

Liverpool Seem To Be Alright With Karius

Truth be told, if this quote from Alisson had come three months ago, we would have been really upset given how poorly Karius and Mignolet had faired throughout the season. Fortunately, Karius has come good of late and even has six clean sheets from 12 games for the Reds.

The German has become better with time and it seems like making him the number one keeper was a smart move by Klopp as the former Mainz player does not have to worry about rotation and losing his place to Mignolet.

There is no doubt that Alisson is a great keeper who is better than Karius but maybe, keeping away from a transfer battle with Real is a smart move and we can spend the Alisson money on getting players to make our side better next season.
