“I was a little disappointed” Liverpool and Arsenal target opens up on summer move that didn’t happen

Thomas Lemar could have been a Liverpool or an Arsenal player in the summer, however, neither deal took place and the Frenchman remained at Monaco for another season. The 22-year-old was in action for France as they lost in a friendly against Colombia, even though Lemar scored.

The midfielder recently spoke about the failed transfer in the summer and shared his disappointment at not having sealed a move away from the Ligue 1 side.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, the 22-year-old did say that he was open to a move in the upcoming transfer window and that he has been working hard at it.

“Regrets? Maybe. I’m not going to hide it, I was a little disappointed,” said Lemar, speaking to Telefoot (h/t Liverpool Echo).

“Once it’s over, it’s over, so I try not to think about it. I’ve kept working so that these clubs come back during the next transfer window. I am open to all offers. I am a football player, I like football. I do not close any door.”

Lemar was one of the best players in Ligue 1 last season but he has struggled to perform at the same level this season with only 3 goals and 7 assists in all competitions.

A Summer Move To Liverpool Could Be On The Cards

While we lost Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in the winter window, Lemar was one player consistently linked

as a replacement for the Brazilian. However, we did not move for the 22-year-old as Jurgen Klopp tweaked the team and with the goals flying in, there have been no questions of a replacement for Coutinho.

Lemar might not be in the best of forms at the moment but he could be one of our signings in the summer as we might look to bulk up our squad for a Premier League title challenge.

We are the only club to have defeated Manchester City in the league and if we can defeat them in the Champions League and win the trophy too, we just might be able to seal the deal for any top player we want, including Lemar.

Liverpool’s attack is great and having another creative midfielder could help us break down defences which are stubborn, similar to the issues we faced against Manchester United.
