After reports emerged yesterday of Mohamed Salah receiving a possible three-match ban for allegedly swinging his arm at Stoke City defender Bruno Martins-Indi, a report from Sky Sports
has claimed that our Egyptian marvel is safe. The 0-0 stalemate was frustrating on a lot of levels for Liverpool since Stoke are a relegation-threatened side and we could have really used the 3 points. But to make matters worse, speculation about Salah facing a possible ban worsened the situation.
However, Sky Sports claims that Salah is good to go and that he will not face any action for the incident, which had come to light only after the game was done and dusted. The report has gone on to state that the FA disciplinary panel did not find the gesture violent and the decision comes as great news for us.
We have a pivotal clash against Chelsea coming up in the Premier League and to not have Salah in the mix could have truly affected our chances of a higher finish. As things stand, Tottenham Hotspur are just one point behind us and our inability to win against Stoke has cost us.
However, if we fail to register a win against Chelsea as well, we might have to kiss our hopes of a third-placed finish goodbye.
Salah’s presence will certainly boost our chances. The Egyptian superstar has been a revelation for us this season and he is a top contender to win the Golden Boot award as well. Let’s hope he smashes a goal or two against his former club to boost his chances of winning the Golden Boot ahead of Harry Kane.
