Ahead of our do-or-die Champions League second-leg semi-final clash against Italian giants AS Roma, Liverpool’s official website published a list of the 23-man squad that will travel to Rome. This is a pivotal match for us since it represents our best chance for winning silverware this season.
A top-four finish is what we can play for in the Premier League but we have come so close to winning Europe’s elite competition and it would be criminal for us to go back empty-handed.
If we are to maintain our 5-2 lead and progress further, it is important for us to travel with a strong squad. Jurgen Klopp has built an incredible team and our attackers, in particular, have been the reason behind many of our successes in the ongoing campaign.
The likes of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have been absolutely exceptional. Although Mane had an injury scare last week, it looks like he will be fit to play the match against Roma. He missed the game against Stoke City to stay fresh for this one and his presence will undoubtedly be necessary for us.
Joe Gomez will not travel to Roma since he has been deemed unfit. However, Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are both a part of the team.
Adam Lallana has also been included in the travelling party and the midfielder will be looking to make an appearance for the make-or-break encounter this Wednesday.
Here is our 23-man squad for the clash against Roma: Karius, Clyne, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Milner, Firmino, Salah, Henderson, Klavan, Moreno, Mane, Lallana, Mignolet, Robertson, Ings, Solanke, Jones, Ward, Woodburn, Masterson, Camacho, Alexander-Arnold.
