Liverpool to face action from UEFA regarding attacks on Man City bus during UCL clash

Jurgen Klopp

As per a report by Daily Mail, UEFA will announce punishment for Liverpool after an attack on Manchester City’s bus at Anfield earlier this year. The duo met for the Champions League quarter-final on the Merseyside and City’s luxury bus was attacked with bricks and fireworks.

In fact, the situation got so worse that the visitors had to arrange for a different bus to take Pep Guardiola and the players back. To be fair, it is a shameful incident for us.

Rivalries in football will always exist but when things become physical and violence rears its ugly head, it does bring about a side of football that is quite ugly.

The report further states that UEFA have slapped four breaches of Article 16 upon us and they all relate to stadium safety. It includes crowd disturbances, throwing objects, acts of damage and setting fireworks and it seems like quite a serious case.

Daily Mail claims that no arrests have been made so far despite video footage which can act as evidence. That does paint a worrisome picture for the City fans. It is terrible to see your players get attacked and we Liverpool fans can attest to that, considering the trouble we faced from AS Roma fans during our second leg semi-final in the Champions League.

While the penalty will undoubtedly be harsh, let’s hope the committee announces the judgement soon enough. More importantly, let’s hope we don’t have to go through this again in the future.
