Ovie Ejaria has joined Rangers from Liverpool on a season-long loan after signing a new deal at Anfield. The BBC reports that the Liverpool man is the fourth summer signing for Steven Gerrard after the Englishman took over as the Scottish team’s manager.
The 20-year-old was signed by the Reds after the Englishman left Arsenal as a youth player. Ejaria, who can play in the attack and the midfield, did impress during his loan spell at Sunderland last season but could not save them from getting relegated into League One.
The youngster was also a part of the U20 team that won the World Cup in 2017 and he made his first-team debut for the Reds in 2016 when he was brought on as a substitute in a League Cup match against Derby County.
This is probably one of the best moves Ejaria could have made regarding the progress in his career. The youngster will be playing for a manager that knows just how good the player is, given that Gerrard spent a lot of time with the youth teams at Liverpool.
Additionally, going to Scotland, where the scrutiny over his performances will not be as magnified as it is in England should give Ejaria the freedom to express himself.
A good campaign under Gerrard might impress Klopp and lead to more chances for the Englishman in the coming years.
Hopefully, Gerrard can get the best out of him and we can send a few more of our talented youngsters to learn and grow under our former captain too.
