Liverpool No.2 set to take up role with Turkish giants – report

Zeljko Buvac

Jurgen Klopp’s assistant Zeljko Buvac is set to move to Turkey and take up the manager’s role with Fenerbahce, according to Turkish reports.

Sporx (h/t The Mirror) claims that Buvac has reached an agreement with the Turkish giants after he left the Reds in April.

Liverpool were quick to suggest that the assistant had left the side for “personal reasons” but Fenerbahce seem to be doing a lot of work and have already brought in former Tottenham and Liverpool man, Damien Comolli to the side.

The Frenchman has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Buvac and the club are looking to make the announcement soon.

A bit of a blow to Liverpool but this was coming

It should not come as a big surprise that Buvac is looking to try his hand at management after spending almost two decades as a No.2 to Klopp.

Buvac did leave us at a crucial time as we ended up losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid but we did move quickly and brought back Pep Ljinders, who left Liverpool in 2018 to coach NEC.

The Dutch coach had been a first-team coach for four years and might get the job again once Buvac leaves officially. It would be great, however, if we actually get the news of Buvac coming back and working with the coaching team at Anfield.

With Ljinders and Buvac working together under Klopp, we could achieve great things. If Buvac does leave, we should keep the option open for him to rejoin.
