Liverpool prepared to allow 25-year old to leave the club with Burnley leading the race to sign him

Danny Ings will be allowed to leave Liverpool in search of first-team football, according to the Guardian. The 25-year-old has had a horrible time at Anfield due to two major injuries and has not seen enough minutes on the pitch during his three-year stay at the club.

The report also adds that the club do not want to sell the English striker but understand the situation with Ings and his desire to play more football.

It’s hard to see him displace any of the main three in our attack and Liverpool will not price the former Burnley man out of a move amidst amicable relations between the player and club.

The Englishman scored his first goal for us last season against West Bromwich Albion in a 2-2 draw but could not make it to the bench for the Champions League final against Real Madrid.

While there is a lot of interest

in the player from Bundesliga clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen, Schalke and RB Leipzig, the Liverpool Echo claims that bookmakers have tipped Burnley to re-sign their former striker.

While Burnley lead the race 3/1 for the 25-year-old, Crystal Palace are 4/1, Newcastle United are 5/1 and Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham United are not further behind at 6/1.

This is certainly one transfer that did not work out for us and it wasn’t the fault of anyone, to be honest. Ings picked up a long-term injury just after Jurgen Klopp took over and well, he hasn’t been able to get a look in.

It is probably better that he moves away but we should keep a buy-back clause in his contract because he could come good elsewhere.
