Liverpool bid accepted as Klopp gets one step closer to completing the deal of the summer [James Pearce]

AS Roma have accepted a £66.8million bid for Alisson

from Liverpool, according to James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo.

The Reds have now been given permission to speak to the Brazilian keeper to finalise talks with the 25-year-old after an initial bid was rejected by the Serie A club.

Liverpool have bid £62m for Alisson with the fee broken down into a payment of £53m and £9m in add-ons. The new deal would be a world-record fee paid for a goalkeeper as Alisson looks close to becoming the latest signing from the Reds in the transfer window.

The report claims that Michael Edwards moved swiftly to send a second bid to Roma after the initial one was rejected and this bid met Roma’s valuation for their star keeper.

Alisson would certainly solve our problem of not having a quality keeper after Loris Karius

’ issues in goal.

We are not completely done with the transfer of Alisson as the report claims that Chelsea could bid the same amount for the 25-year-old. However, we have stolen a march on Maurizio Sarri’s side and are confident that we can get the deal done for the keeper.

This does come as a bit of a shock as to how quickly we have moved for Alisson when it seemed like the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea could sign him up.

Liverpool seem to be doing a lot of work to ensure Jurgen Klopp gets the players that he wants and should Alisson become the latest Liverpool player, we will have more than just a chance of winning some silverware this season.
